It is without doubt the most wonderful time of the year! With December just around the corner did you know that Christmas is the busiest time of year to get engaged? Aside from Valentine’s Day, the festive period is a time when we see many proposals. It is thought that about one fifth of engagements take place in December. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are the most popular in terms of proposals and it is clear to see the reasons why.
There is, without doubt, a feeling that couples and families really want to go to town and enjoy Christmas this year as we are emerging from the pandemic. Many are already decorating trees, writing cards and creating that sense of magic that comes around each and every December.
People are feeling connected, loved and cherished and it’s time of celebration. So why not make that very special proposal and share the magic with your nearest and dearest. Here are five ideas for your December proposal.
Winter Wonderland
Winter is such a special time of year, so a winter proposal can be extremely magical. Show your loved one how much you care by creating a winter wonderland for your proposal. You can wrap up warm, head to the Christmas markets, drink decadent hot chocolate and the list goes on. You could even go the extra mile by booking your local ice rink for a private session before popping the question.
Winter Picnic
If you both love the great outdoors, then a lovely walk could be a good starting point for your proposal. Plan your romantic walk when the weather is crisp, clear and sunny. You may also want to think about a favourite spot that you both love to make the proposal. If the weather is good enough you could also plan a winter picnic, finished off with some lovely fizz or sloe gin!
Cosy Night In
You could also consider planning a cosy night in for your proposal. Winter nights are a wonderful opportunity for creating that romantic atmosphere. Roaring fires, twinkling lights, candles, favourite films and the list goes on. You could create their favourite meal, made with much love followed by going down on one knee to complete the perfect night in.
Love Actually
Without doubt, this is my favourite Christmas film of all time. You could go so far as creating your own version of the scene from Love Actually by arriving at their front door unexpected, playing a festive song and telling you partner how much you love them by asking them to marry you with paper signs, just perfect!
Christmas Proposals
There are so many ideas to help you with a festive proposal if you would like to propose on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. You could hide the ring in an advent calendar, in a Christmas decoration on the tree or by the fireplace. You could even go so far as planning a proposal party with all of your nearest and dearest to make it super special.
I am feeling so very excited for all of those wonderful proposals that are about to take place in December and to all those couples who are about to write the next chapter in their lives.
