A Magical Cotswold Wedding Venue

I recently visited the Matara Centre – www.matara.co.uk – the most fabulous wedding venue situated within the glorious Cotswolds. As you cross the threshold time stands still, the atmosphere is magical and you feel like you have stepped into a piece of paradise. I met the very lovely Rebecca who gave me a guided tour of the Cotswold wedding venue, and what was apparent was her passion and dedication to this wonderful venue.

Celebrant Led Ceremonies in the Cotswolds

The venue was created 25 years ago by the owner of Matara. He had a clear vision and passion to create a beautiful place that fused both Asian and English architecture. A place that was inviting, peaceful and calm. He also had a curiosity for ritual in ceremony and celebration across all cultures which lends itself beautifully to Celebrant led wedding ceremonies.

Dream Cotswold Wedding Venue

Whatever your dream wedding maybe, Matara can very much accommodate your wish list for you. It maybe intimate or it may be lavish, or possibly something in between, nothing is too much trouble for this wonderful team. You may prefer a more intimate wedding ceremony within their Grade II listed Regency home, or a much grander gathering under the cloisters in the courtyard, front lawn or within their indoor space.

Your reception can be a full sit down affair, a hog roast or a vegan extravaganza, nothing is too much trouble. After your wedding breakfast, the Hilarium at Matara can then be transformed into the most fabulous dance floor for you and guests to dance the night away and to and to continue your wedding celebrations.

The venue also has accommodation for 28 guests in their Grade II listed home, ensuring that you can fully relax before and after your wedding. It really is a home from home.

Tree Planting

One very special gesture this wedding venue makes as a form of dedication to the beginning of your union and journey together, is to allow you to plant a tree or rose bush when you have tied the knot. In addition, they very much welcome your guests to then water this planting and to also tie a ribbon to the wishing tree. Many couples return years later to visit their planting I cannot think of anything more special than that.

Sustainability and growth

Situated within 28 acres of parkland and gardens Matara as they clearly put themselves host life’s celebrations and they do it just wonderfully. They very much want to keep their gardens open for everyone to enjoy and explore, a step away from the frenetic pace of modern life.

As a venue, they are continuously developing. They take the caretaking of Matara very seriously and are returning 50% of their parkland to a natural habitat for wildlife. With over 1,500 trees planted; they have only just begun.

This is, without doubt, a most unique Cotswold wedding venue nestled away in the glorious Gloucestershire countryside. So much thought has gone into this ever-evolving venue not only as the perfect wedding setting, but most importantly their vision for sustainability and their roles as stewards of the land.
